Gay Nell Williams, 84, of Cairo, Mississippi, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville. She was born February 19, 1939, to John and Mary Farris Linton. She was a member of New Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, singing, working crossword puzzles, gardening, and calling her friend Billy numerous times a day. She was a people person and never met a stranger.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at New Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Jack Whitley officiating, Vincent Williams delivering the eulogy, and Brianna Whitaker giving a tribute. Burial will be in New Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the church.
She is survived by one son, Vincent (Heidi Blair) Williams; daughter-in-law, Annette Williams; six grandchildren, Brianna Lynn (Lucas) Whitaker, Caleb Lee (Tessa) Williams, Lillian Grace Williams, Emma Leigh Williams, David Alan Williams Jr., and Jordan Huggins; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Williams, Elijah Luke Whitaker and Emmy Louise Whitaker; special friend, Billy Jones; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Lee Williams; a son, David Alan Williams; her parents; three brothers, Homer Dut Linton, Bunk Linton and Lloyd Ellison Linton; six sisters, Annie Lou Linton, Johnny Randolph, Jimmie Linton, Jewel Clark, Nona Moore and Arvilla Linton; and her father and mother-in-law, Oliver and Ora Lee Williams.
Pallbearers are Caleb Williams, Lucas Whitaker, David Williams Jr., Jordan Huggins, Billy Jones, Jeff Green and Bandon Burcham.
