Obituary for Jerry Lynn Dill

Jerry Lynn Dill, 74, of Iuka, MS, died Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the Tishomingo Community Living Center.

Lynn was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Burnsville. He graduated from Burnsville High School in 1968 and was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a member of the Seabees. He retired from Packaging Corporation of America and later worked at Power Equipment Company in Saltillo. Lynn was a member of the Iuka Lodge #94 F&AM and was a Shriner. He loved Ole Miss sports and the St. Louis Cardinals, as well as riding in the Gator with his grandchildren and talking and joking with friends.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie Wright Dill; three children, Alisha Whitaker (Heath), Melanie Tapp (Jon), and Shandy Dill (Lindsey); six grandchildren, Tanner Whitaker (Annalee), Brady Whitaker (Jacqueline), Avery Tapp, Cooper Tapp, Charlie Dill, and Mabrie Dill; two sisters-in-law, Donna Dill and Sue Dill; his aunt, Lila Dill; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gladys Dill; a sister, Margaret Dill; and two brothers, R. L. Dill and Ricky Dill.

Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 8, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Glen, officiated by Bro. Shandy Dill and Bro. Shane Evetts. Interment will follow in Hubbard Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Heath Whitaker, Jon Tapp, Randy Dill, Brady Whitaker, Tanner Whitaker, and Cooper Tapp. Honorary pallbearers will be Truman Williams, Gary Kenaum, Lewis Bourg, Caleb Bonds, Brad Hughes, and JW Vanhoose. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
