Ollie Mae Ray Umfress-Lambert, 95, passed from her earthly life on Monday, December 5, 2022 at her home. She professed faith in Jesus as a young girl, and her faith guided her life. She loved her family and spent a lifetime serving them and others through her gift of hospitality and cooking. She retired from Tishomingo County Hospital (North Mississippi Medical Center-Iuka) after working as the administrative assistant to several hospital administrators. She is survived by her four children, Sherrell Umfress (Cindy), Teresa Dawson(Kim), Sandra Wadkins(Frank), and Sam Umfress(Janel); her grandchildren, Shane Dawson(Jenny), Tara Daniels(Brandon), Jarod Dawson(Beth), Jon Wadkins(Tanya), Amber Nelms(Brad), Jena Starring (Daman), and Harper Umfress(Laura); her great-grandchildren that brought her so much joy in her life, Peyton(Kristen), Drew(Hailey), Hannah, and Taylor Nelms, Carrigan and Zoe Dawson, Hailey and Cheyenne Dawson, Kayli Shenk, Jacob Parsons, Cash and Colton Daniels, McKenna, Caroline and Max Wadkins, and unborn baby girl Starring; her great-great-grandson, Gunner Nelms; her brother, Edward(Ned) Ray, and her sisters-in-law Mae Sims and Maxine Wade (Cotton). She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Lamar Umfress; her later in life husband, Hewell Lambert; her parents, John H. and Roberta Haines Ray; her siblings, Ward Ray, John H. Ray Jr. (Maureen), Leonard Ray (Lois), William Troy Ray (Peggy), Aline Moore(Alvin), and Alpha Mosley (J.B.); and her brother-in-law, Jack Sims. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, Mississippi, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2022, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at New Lebanon Freewill Baptist Church on Hwy 364 in the Cairo Community with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. at the church, officiated by Bro. Jack Whitley. Pallbearers include Shane Dawson, Jarod Dawson, Jon Wadkins, Brad Nelms, Harper Umfress, Brandon Daniels, Peyton Nelms, and Drew Nelms. Honorary pallbearers include Cash Daniels, Colton Daniels, Taylor Reid Nelms, and Jacob Parsons. Interment will be in New Lebanon Cemetery.
