Phyllis May Ross Pettyjohn, 78, died November 12, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center Iuka of complications from COPD. She lived 25 years in Iuka and was enjoying retirement from the banking industry. She was born in San Bernardino, California and spent most of her first 40 years in Colorado. She worked in numerous banks and even the Denver Mint for a short time. She loved to watch car racing at local tracks, go bargain hunting at garage sales, and being a full time Grandma to her grandchildren. She moved to Iuka, 25 years ago to be closer to her beloved mother and brother who also lived in the area. Always a huge fan of Elvis, she and her daughter collected countless memories and quite a few collectors pieces over the years. She was an angel sent to Earth to make our lives rich with love and compassion. She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Boring; daughter Marlena Pettyjohn; and grandchildren Kaytlin and Aaron Pettyjohn, Sydni Boring, Savanna Armstrong and Tiffany Pizio, and cousins in the Kansas City area are Ellen Wentz, Ruthann Weinzerl, and Bill Sigler
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ellen Ross, of Iuka.
A memorial service will be arranged at a later date. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka assisted the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Iuka Public Library.
