Tishomingo County High School is the recipient of a $35,000.00 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for lifesaving equipment. Tishomingo County High School purchased 12 Physio-Control LIFEPAK 1000 automated external defibrillators for placement throughout the campus. The grant allows for AED placement in each building, floor, and team facility. Forrest Wright, teacher and assistant athletic director at Tishomingo County High School was responsible for writing the grant and securing funding for the project. According to Wright, “Student safety is the number one priority at Tishomingo County High School, and the purchase and installation of AED’s will increase the level of life saving care on campus in the case of a medical emergency.” He further stated that “During a medical emergency, the AED’s will directly interface with the North Mississippi Medical Center’s EMS system to streamline emergency care.” Also, an AED is provided to every Tishomingo County High School team while traveling and competing off campus. Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is a non-profit foundation founded in 2005 after hurricane Katrina to provide lifesaving equipment, prevention education, scholarships, disaster relief, and support for members of the military in communities throughout the United States. Grants are awarded to first responders, non-profits, and public safety organizations.
